Meet the tour leader outside Bank Muscat, Al Hamra, where we will get ready and check our bikes before we start the tour. This cycling tour follows fairly easy paths and we will cover around 50km on this Water Trail Bike Tour. We quickly come across a small spring that has sprung up high up in the mountain and we will cycle on the narrow mountain path that runs beside it. We keep following the spring downstream till we reach the Tanuf Mineral Water Factory. Here we will take a tour of the factory to see how the bottling and packaging of mineral water takes place. We then start cycling towards Kamah, a tiny village hidden away in an oasis situated right on the foothills of the majestic Al Hajar Mountains. We break for lunch at a picnic spot with spectacular views. After finishing up with lunch we will explore the village to gain a better understanding of the life here. We will also take a tour of the traditional aflaj irrigation system of Oman. Post the village tour we’ll return to Al Hamra by car.

The group will meet up with our representative at Al Hamra Shopping Street, from where we start the Panorama Bike Tour. We ride towards Misfat al Abriyyin, one of the oldest villages in Al Hamra, which is hidden away in the hillside. The roads are well maintained but steep and we cycle through steep tarmac road that wind up mountain side riding up a gradient of almost twelve to twenty two percent as we ascent towards the village which lies at an altitude of almost thousand meters above sea level. On reaching the village we break for lunch at a picnic spot amidst the greenery here. You can walk around between the crumbling houses set in the mountainside and visit the step plantations cut into the slopes. You also get an opportunity to see the traditional Falaj irrigation system here. Later take a short walk through the date plantations of the valley. After exploring the village and its surrounding areas we head back towards Al Hamra on bike. On the way you will notice the ruins of the abandoned houses dating more than two hundred year back, which gives you a feeling of what villages in ancient Oman were like. Also we stop at a particular point on the route which offers a spectacular panorama view of the Hamra. Lunch can also be organized at The View(chargable).
